French Macarons

Finally got around to making French Macarons.

They recipe doesn't call for much ingredients but its a very temperamental batter.

The chocolate batter was a bit more dense than the regular one.

I want to make a few more with different fillings and get used

to a piping technique.

Not Feelin' It

She was a bit moody that day.

I called her to sit on my lap while I edited photos and she just walked past me.

She jumped on the bed and curled up in a ball.

She wasn't having it that day.

Lunch Date

There are days when work doesn't need me to be stuck at home and I cherish those days.

Had lunch with these lovely ladies.

Mostly to catch up with each other and discussed some wedding stuff.

I think I went to Ocean Diner twice that week.

I'm down for anything free and they give you goodies when you check in on facebook.

If its free, I will want it whatever it is.

Cleaning.. Well, I Tried To.

I tried to clean our room yesterday which took longer than it should have.

I swear, our room is not big at all but I kept on getting distracted and even ended up

taking photos of random things.

Amado LOVES accessories.

"AmaDee" was a nickname our friends gave us. Sure beats having to say Amado and Deney
every time. I got it for him a couple of years ago on our anniversary.
Definitely needs to be cleaned again, lol.

A friend gave us this little figurine and the postcard came from our roommate

when she went to Japan during the holidays.

One of my faves.

His name is Belly, don't ask why.

He helped us practice our parenting skills.

I think our two girls turned out well because of him.

Still next to us when we sleep.

And our adopted bamboo plant.

My cousin left it to us when they moved.

It's the only plant that I'm able to keep alive.

This post shows that if you wave anything shiny in front of me,

 I will forget what I was doing.

I've gone over back and forth about the idea of ordering business cards
but for some reason always hesitated.

I'm not comfortable calling myself a photographer.

Yeah, I'm weird like that.
But I thought what the hell, just go for it.

I selected 40 of my favorite images and kept it simple.

I'm really happy with my cards though.

Almost feel bad knowing that I have to give them away at one point.

Avenue Q and LA Rose Cafe

Last Saturday Amado and I spent the day in LA.

Something we never mind doing is taking the subway.

I really wish it public transportation in LA was the same as New York's.

I love how everything was so accessible by subway.

We got to Pantages just a couple of minutes before the show started.

I would love to shoot inside the Pantages.

Someday...

Yeah, we were way up there!

But we still enjoyed the show.

After the show, we hopped back on the train for an early dinner.

Our friends have been telling us about LA Rose Cafe.

I love how the place is not overwhelming like other Filipino restaurants.

Clean and minimalistic.

The owner came out to greet us and we chatted for a few minutes.

He knew who my friends were by name.

I came back after a few days with a friend and one of the servers

greeted me by my first name and asked "Where's Amado?"

That's what you call good customer service.

Ok enough rambling.

FOOD!

Amado got the beef mechado.

The sauce was just right, not too strong despite the consistency.

I think they used stock instead of water.

I got the pork adobo.

Very tender. I really love how it looks so clean.

Definitely a place to bring someone who's never tried filipino food before.

Love love love their Dark Chocolate Cheesecake.

The cheesecake itself is not too sweet. Smooth texture.

The caramel sauce completes the dessert.

I really enjoy the days where we get to do things like this.

We're usually running around on weekends and don't get to relax.
